This painting, Curve Component, involves a comparison between shapes. The square flatness of a man made structure juxtaposes with a circular sun and arc of a wave. I love the colours and atmosphere of this painting as well as its strong composition. I used oil paint and oil pastel but instead of working on canvas I used 300gsm cotton paper with a deckled edge, specially formulated for oils. What I particularly like is that you don’t have to treat this paper with anything before you use it as you can just work on it straight away.
