My abstract landscapes are shaped by personal encounters and relationships with nature, blending reality with fantasy. I encourage viewers to embark on a journey to an unfamiliar destination, where visions of what lies ahead are revealed in dimly lit settings, like traversing through a surreal alternate universe.
Through the application of layers of paint, I create a softly muted, illuminated mix of colour and texture. I like to scratch marks into the canvas and incorporate monotype techniques to give my paintings more depth and complexity.
My focus is to create work that captures the things I find truly real and beautiful in the world, but also, to relate to issues that I think are important in an age of mass consumerism and technology.
I am an Edinburgh based artist combining painting and printmaking. I have a background in printed textiles, design and botanical illustration.
